Many online sites, whether writing platforms or social
media, require at least some of your images to be square in shape.
If you check the requirements, you’ll most
often find them to be 250 x 250 pixels, 400 x 400 pixels, or 600 x 600 pixels.
The problem you’ll find is that most images you’ll want to
use are not square. Ninety-nine percent
of images are rectangular in shape and either in portrait or landscape
orientation.
So how do you get a square image?
You’re going to need crop your photo.
Free Photo Cropping Websites and What They Have to Offer
You don’t need to invest in expensive software to get square
photos. There are plenty of free
cropping sites available on the Internet.
Here’s how they work.
Have the photo you want to work available on your computer. You will be asked to upload it to the crop/resize
website that you choose. And then you’ll
manipulate the photo as you’d prefer by following the website’s simple
directions.
All sites will provide you with easy tools to reduce the
size of your image, crop, or resize your photo to change the width and/or
height. Most sites will have features that
will help you to sharpen the contrast, brightness or saturation of the
photo. Some will help you convert black
and white photos to color. Most will
help you to rotate an image or add a border.
Some websites, like IrfanView, lets you add do batches, slideshows and
add music. Some sites, such as Luna Pic,
will even help you add artistic details to the image.
I’ve listed a few free photo reworking websites below. Every one of them is top notch and I’m sure
